Workshop Overview

From function to community integration.

The ISCoS PT and OT Affiliated Delivery Groups will host a joint pre-conference workshop in Kuala Lumpur, centred on the theme “From Function to Community Integration.”

The morning programme provides a joint overview of functional expectations and rehabilitation, including shoulder preservation, reconstructive upper-limb surgery in tetraplegia, independence in daily living, paediatrics, vocational rehabilitation, posture, seating and mobility, and return to walking. In the afternoon, OT and PT tracks run in parallel before a final joint panel on physical activity from evidence to practice.

A practical day across function, participation and rehabilitation practice.

The workshop combines shared OT/PT learning, profession-specific afternoon sessions, and a final joint discussion focused on translating evidence into rehabilitation practice.

Shared sessions covering shoulder preservation, reconstructive upper-limb surgery, daily living, paediatrics, vocational rehabilitation, seating and mobility, and walking.

Occupational Therapy Focus

Social participation, return to study and work, meaningful productive roles and assistive technology in SCI rehabilitation.

Physiotherapy Focus

Muscle contraction, sitting postural control and physiotherapy management of neuropathic pain after SCI.

Evidence to Practice

The final joint session brings OT and PT perspectives together for a panel discussion on physical activity from evidence to practice.
